About Myself
Haomin Hu’s past works have always been pure, focusing on a wide range of photography types including portrait, landscape and architecture. Without boundaries, he makes full usage of other mediums such as art installation and videos to serve his subject matter, content, and purposes of the project. He ties together the fragments of real life by landscape, street, and portrait photography. With a camera in his hand, Haomin becomes a conductor, organizing all the things that have not happened in life. Similar to a survivor from all kinds of life's cruelty and various desires, he stores the moments that slip away easily.
By capturing unknown moments and presenting them in the work included, Let the Story Begin and End and the movie <To Us, from Us>, his art practice has gradually shifted from abstract and metaphysical thinking to critical thinking about society.
Having grown up in Shenzhen, Guangdong, an east coastal city in China with the environment of open-mindedness and innovation, Haomin Hu is currently pursuing dual degrees, a B.S. in Data Science and a B.A. in Studio Art at the University of Rochester. He is currently doing an internship as an Analyst at WeChat.
With the atmosphere of creativity and inclusiveness in WeChat, Haomin Hu incorporates critical thinking and aesthetic appreciation in art creation. Because everyone he captured on the street is removed from their social identity and becomes themselves during the process of photography, Hu records the discoveries of human nature that only exist in ephemeral moments of our lives. His works examines the lives of ordinary people, shortening the gap from the reality and fantasy of life, bringing a touch of introspection and humor.
